NASA First Nations Launch - Booth: 1437

The Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium First Nations Launch Competition offers Tribal College and Universities (TCU), Native American-Serving Nontribal Institution (NASNTI), as well as active American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) collegiate chapters the opportunity to demonstrate engineering and design skills through direct application in high-power rockets. FNL is a 'First Step' experience designed for students with no prior experience working with high-power rockets. Rocket motors and dimensions are restricted by competition parameters so that the knowledge, creativity, and imagination of the students are challenged. The end result is a great aerospace learning experience unique to the Native American community.

The NIDDK supports research on many important diseases that disproportionately impacts the health of minority populations in the U.S. These include diabetes, obesity, nutrition-related disorders, hepatitis C, gallbladder disease, H. Pylori infection, sickle cell disease, kidney disease, and complications from infection with HIV. The Institute also emphasizes support for under-represented minority scientists interested in biomedical research.
NIDDK offers opportunities for training scientists and students, both on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland and Phoenix, AZ and by providing financial support to individuals at universities and medical schools throughout the U.S. In exhibiting at the AISES Conference, it is our objective to provide information on NIDDK research training and career development opportunities and to encourage members of underrepresented racial and ethnic minority groups in

This important collaboration results in Indigenous-centric data sharing, collection, analysis, and reporting - the first cross-organizational partnership of its kind.
